A Prayer for Westchurch in Our Review

... we might want to make this our request to God as we look to the future of Westchurch.

"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. "

(Ephesians 3:14-21 NIV)

If we follow this we will be:
Acknowledging that our future will come from his glorious riches not merely our own planning and wisdom,
Christ will have a renewed place in our hearts and church,
We will find a new depth of love for Christ, each other and the world around us,
We acknowledge that if it is God's will, he will do in us and through us far more than we can imagine,
That whatever we achieve we will give him the glory.

Decades ago
The best 5 days you'll ever have
4000-ish people come to Eastercamp to have fun, get to know each other and learn a little of what it means to follow Jesus at the same time. Sometimes it gets muddy, sometimes it's loud, sometimes cold, sometimes hot. 
Once we had FMX, once we had a spaceship race. Sometimes we just chill on the grass in the sun. 
We recycle and compost, plant trees, and fly in helicoptors.
Sometimes we have pies, other times donuts but we always have an awesome time.

To the Staff and people of Westchurch,


You may or may not have heard of the work of the Open Home Foundation (OHF).


It is our hope that you may have a moment to read over this email as we would like to share the direction and scope of our vision.


The Open Home Foundation is a nationwide Christian-based Child Care and Protection Support Service. We offer foster care for children and family support within a Christian foundation, meaning that we very much believe God can make a difference within the lives of these children and their families.


We believe that family support and intervention is pivotal within New Zealand society and within our local Christian community. Alarming child abuse and neglect statistics highlight the fact that the right to protection and quality of life is not being upheld for many children and young people within our country.


These are OUR precious children. The vision of the Open Home Foundation is that EVERY child will receive a depth of care which will bless them for the rest of their lives.


The focus of the Open Home Foundation is to support, empower, and strengthen existing families so that they are able to maintain the care of their children. However, in some cases the children need to be placed within foster care. It is here that the church can play an important part in this ministry.


With this in mind, there are many ways in which we could partner with your congregation. Although individual church members may take on a more direct role, it is just as important that the church body is actively involved in being the ‘wider family’ for these children.


  • There is a desperate need for more Christian Foster Families
  • Prayer being the foundation of our ministry, we need Prayer Partners
  • Church & individual Child Sponsorship and OHF Money Boxes


There is a wide range of ways in which we can engage with your congregation and promote a partnership in this child and family centred ministry.


  • A visit and presentation within your church service
  • Items within your church newsletter
  • One to one discussions about Foster Parenting with OHF
  • Posters for your church notice board
  • An information table at your church service, manned by a staff member
  • Brochures and pamphlets to be handed out at your church service
  • Sign up to be sent our newsletter with the latest news and updates
  • Prayer for your congregation
  • We invite pastors to arrange a time to be part of our team meeting
  • Come in for an office visit and meet the staff


We understand that you probably receive a number of requests for support from a range of individuals and organisations with valuable foundations for ministry. So we believe it is important that your involvement should fit with your church culture and structure.


Please don’t hesitate to make a request if you would like us to post out, email, or deliver any information. We would love to be able to visit your church, build rapport with your congregation and present the opportunities for involvement.

We want to encourage you to see the movie 'Buck'. It is very inspiring and deeply moving. It is not just a story about a man with remarkable abilities to train horses - it is a story about a redeemed life - about how insight and tenderness as well as firmness can bring both people and horses out of fear into trust and a healthy and productive life. It has 'gospel' all through it, as David said.
It speaks about our society and todays struggles with broken lives who become violent and destructive.
